Stop Saying "I Agree" Every Time
When someone says something you like, do you always say "I agree"?
This is correct, but it can sound flat. It sounds like you are not really listening, just filling the silence.
❌ "I agree." (said the same way, every time)
What Works Instead
Native speakers use different phrases depending on the situation.
Here are 6 ways to agree that sound more natural.
Strong agreement → "Exactly."
Use this when someone says exactly what you think.Friendly agreement → "That's a really good point."
✅ "That's a really good point, I never thought of it like that."Agreeing and adding your own idea → "Absolutely, and I think..."
Use this to agree, then keep the conversation going with your own thought.Soft agreement → "I think you're right."
This sounds more natural than "I agree," and shows you really thought about it.Emotional agreement →"I know exactly what you mean."
Use this when someone shares something personal. It shows you understand.
✅ "I know exactly what you mean, the same thing happened to me."Surprised agreement →"You know what, you're totally right."
Use this when someone changes your mind. It sounds honest and natural.
